What is Monizze Pay?

Monizze Pay is a mobile payment feature built directly into the Monizze app. It lets your customers pay at your NFC terminal with their smartphone, no physical card needed, with no additional steps required on your end.

Monizze Pay works for meal vouchers, eco-cheques and gift vouchers, in all shops and restaurants affiliated with Monizze.

At the checkout

What happens at the checkout?

  1. 1 Select the right type of voucher on your terminal (meal, eco or gift)
  2. 2 The customer opens their Monizze app and holds their phone near the terminal
  3. 3 The terminal confirms: transaction complete

Tips

  • Do not select "credit card" or "debit card". Stay on the standard Monizze payment mode.
  • If a customer tries to pay via Google Pay or Apple Pay by double-clicking the side of their phone, ask them to open their Monizze app.

  3. 3 The customer hasn't opened their app? Ask them to open the Monizze app and tap the image of the card

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to do anything to accept Monizze Pay?

No. No action required. You just need to be an affiliated Monizze merchant. Not yet affiliated? Find out here.

Are there any additional fees?

No. Monizze Pay does not go through Visa or Mastercard — it is a 100% Belgian solution. You therefore pay the same transaction fees as for a Monizze card payment.

Is correct voucher use respected?

Yes, exactly like with the physical Monizze card. It's selecting the right voucher type on your terminal that determines correct use: Monizze Pay behaves like the card and respects that choice, because the payment stays within the Monizze network, without going through Visa or Mastercard.

Is it the same as Google Pay or Apple Pay?

No. The customer must open their Monizze app to pay, and not double-click the side of their phone. Why? Monizze Pay is built within the Monizze app and Belgian ecosystem. It does not go through Visa or Mastercard, in order to save you additional fees.
