From June 1, 2026, the list of products eligible for eco vouchers is changing.

This update comes at the same time as the period when many companies distribute eco vouchers.

This means that in the coming weeks, millions of euros in eco vouchers will be distributed… and quickly spent by consumers eager to use them.

Are you ready to benefit from it?

Millions of euros spent in just a few months

Every year, more than 2.3 million Belgian workers receive up to €250 in eco vouchers. A concrete net budget, valid for 2 years.

A study conducted by Ipsos among beneficiaries in Belgium shows that 90% of eco vouchers are spent within one year, and nearly 60% within six months.

In addition, 72% of beneficiaries say eco vouchers enable them to purchase sustainable products they would not have bought otherwise.

These expenses also benefit local businesses: more than one in three beneficiaries spend their eco vouchers in local shops.

Eco vouchers are not a trend. Today, consumers no longer ask whether they will use them, but where and how.

More purchases made possible

The scope of eco vouchers will expand from June 1, 2026.

More everyday products will become eligible, including all Fairtrade-certified food products and products from ASC-certified aquaculture. Criteria for electrical appliances will also evolve, with a focus on energy-efficient devices (classes A, B and C depending on the category).

These changes have a direct impact in your store:

  • more situations where customers can pay with eco vouchers
  • products that were not eligible before can now be purchased using eco vouchers
  • customers who hesitate are more likely to buy, and store visits more easily turn into sales

What does this mean for your business?

In practice, this means more conversion opportunities and more revenue from already intended purchases. Consumers tend to prefer stores where they can use their eco vouchers.

Accepting eco vouchers means:

  • becoming a natural destination when customers want to spend their eco vouchers
  • attracting customers actively looking for where to shop
  • increasing average basket size, for example when a customer adds an extra product or chooses a higher-performing model thanks to eco vouchers.
