It is often said that you need to be a large company to implement an ambitious sustainable mobility policy. At Monizze, as a Belgian SME with 140 employees, we believe exactly the opposite.

Sustainable mobility is more than just a product we offer through RewardFlex: it’s a practice we live by every day.

In 2024, our move to 31 Central, in the heart of Brussels, gave us the opportunity to roll out the mobility budget and a general policy of responsible and inspiring mobility.

One year later, here is the outcome.

The mobility budget: 55% adoption

The mobility budget allows employees to replace their combustion company car with more sustainable solutions: electric cars, reimbursement of a mortgage or rent, public transport subscriptions, bicycles, etc.

They can choose or combine several solutions, depending on their preferences and lifestyle, until their mobility budget is used up.

At Monizze, out of 64 eligible employees, 36 activated their mobility budget, representing an adoption rate of 55%, well above the Belgian average.

Among those who opted for the mobility budget:

  • The majority chose reimbursement of their mortgage or rent.
  • Some combine an electric car with a parking subscription or an SNCB or STIB subscription.
  • Others allocated 100% of their budget to an electric car.

👉 This individual and flexible choice perfectly reflects our DNA, and that of the mobility budget: giving employees the means to choose what suits them, while contributing to a positive collective impact.

Drive & Ride: a hybrid alternative by Monizze

Beyond the mobility budget, we launched an original initiative: Drive & Ride.

The principle is simple:

  • The employee keeps their company car.
  • They commit not to use it to reach our offices in downtown Brussels, but rather to get to a station or parking lot outside the city center.
  • In addition to the company car, Monizze covers the parking subscription (near their home, at a station, or at the entrance to Brussels) and the public transport subscription.

The result:

  • 70% of employees with a company car leave it on the outskirts and continue their journey by train, STIB, or bicycle.
  • This avoids 1,037 km traveled by car every day.
  • That’s a reduction of around 259 kg of CO₂ per day.

It’s a pragmatic solution: no obligation, but a strong incentive to combine individual flexibility with collective responsibility.

Incentives rather than constraints

Our philosophy is clear: we prefer to encourage rather than force a shift towards softer mobility.

And we back this up with concrete enablers:

  • Offices located 5 minutes from Brussels Central Station, perfect to encourage sustainable commuting.
  • A public transport subscription financed by Monizze, in addition to the company car, provided the employee opts for the car + public transport combination.
  • The mobility budget offered to all eligible employees, enabling an individual and responsible choice.

A movement driven by our teams

“Our world is going through a major transition, and I firmly believe we all share the responsibility of preserving our planet. We encourage Monizzians to rethink their commuting habits by adopting soft mobility, supported by mobility budgets and public transport subscriptions. Every contribution matters, because there is no PLANet B!”

A measurable and strategic internal impact

Beyond CO₂ figures and kilometers avoided, our mobility project has generated tangible impacts on our organization and employees.

  • Stronger employer attractiveness: reduced time to hire and cost to hire.
  • Increased engagement: eNPS score up by +13 points (from 4 in September 2023 to 17 in January 2025).

A mobility policy aligned with our values and vision

This initiative perfectly illustrates two of our values:

  • Engaged: the project is carried out collectively and cross-functionally, involving the entire company: from management to employees, including HR.
  • Responsible: by reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to cleaner air in Brussels, our mobility policy is fully integrated into our ESG objectives and supports our vision of being a responsible and innovative company.

Our mobility policy is also part of our ambition to be a reference player in ESG within the Belgian SME ecosystem.

Monizze has also been recognized for its concrete and ambitious initiatives:

  • EcoVadis Gold certification
  • Membership of BACA (Brussels Alliance for Climate Action) since 2025

A collective and inspiring impact

Our mobility policy goes beyond Monizze: it also proves that action is possible, regardless of company size.

Faced with recruitment challenges for SMEs, the growing need for flexibility expressed by employees, and the quest for meaning and belonging among younger generations, we are convinced that an adapted mobility policy is an essential lever.

By sharing these results, our ambition is to inspire other SMEs to explore new approaches, rethink their practices, and take the step towards more sustainable and attractive solutions for their employees.

Sustainable mobility? A conviction

By combining the mobility budget, Drive & Ride, and concrete incentives, we are creating a virtuous circle: more flexibility for our employees, a better environment for Brussels, and a more attractive and responsible company.

“Changing our commuting habits is possible, even on a small scale. Together, we can reduce our impact while improving our quality of life.”
